Ubisoft and Netflix have announced a new partnership in which Ubisoft will make three of its brands available on Netflix.
The Ubisoft team brought one of its new partners, Netflix, onto the virtual stage during today's official Ubisoft Forward Livestream to reveal several new titles. Mike Verdu, Netflix's VP of games, detailed the extended partnership between Ubisoft and Netflix, which will bring three new titles to the streaming platform. The games announced include Valiant Hearts and Mighty Quest for Epic Loot sequels, as well as another Assassin's Creed title.
Netflix began delivering mobile games to streaming users in November of last year, with the release of five titles. Two Stranger Things games were among the first to be released, based on the popular Netflix Original of the same name. Netflix hasn't made a big splash in the game market yet, but it's not going away anytime soon. Ubisoft has been a close partner with Netflix throughout its game adventure, including the release of Stranger Things DLC on Far Cry.
There will be three Netflix-exclusive games, each from a different Ubisoft franchise: Valiant Hearts, Mighty Quest, and Assassin's Creed. While there is still plenty to learn about these games, Verdu did provide some important data about them. Most crucially, they will all be available to Netflix users for free, with no advertisements or contentious microtransactions. The first, a sequel to Valiant Hearts, will be launched in January 2023, followed by a new Mighty Quest game later that year. The Assassin's Creed title has yet to be released.
Valiant Hearts 2 is the sequel to Ubisoft's Valiant Hearts: The Great War, a LucasArts-inspired adventure game. According to Netflix, it is being created by the same team that created the original, which was regarded as one of the best World War I games. It's uncertain whether the sequel will take place during World War I or during World War II. Netflix didn't divulge much about Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, the sequel to the action-adventure - or, as Netflix prefers to call it, rogue-lite-inspired hack-and-slash adventure.
Finally, the third game, and possibly the most intriguing, will be a new Assassin's Creed title. The game doesn't yet have a title, and most of it is still unknown, but fans do know that it will premiere alongside the impending Assassin's Creed Netflix live-action TV series - albeit neither has a release date. All of the games will be accessible through the Netflix app, which now has a Games tab and can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
