Ubisoft has favored the Epic Games Store in recent years.
It appears that Ubisoft's games may be returning to the Steam platform after being absent for several years. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is one such game.
YoobieRe, a Github user, found that the source code for the Assassin's Creed Valhalla Ubisoft Connect page has just been modified and now contains the phrase "Steam." It says, "Internal Dev/QC - Assassin's Creed Valhalla [STEAM]."
"We don't comment on rumors and speculation," Ubisoft said in a statement to Insider Gaming.
If Ubisoft's titles return to Valve's platform, it will be a significant issue because Ubisoft prefers to release its games on PC via the Epic Games Store and its own launcher. Trials Rising was Ubisoft's final Steam release on February 26, 2019, about four years ago.
Surprisingly, while Assassin's Creed Mirage is slated for a PC release, it just has an Epic Games Store page and no Steam page. It's probable that Ubisoft may continue to work with Epic Games and Steam.
In our Assassin's Creed Valhalla review, we stated, "Despite its strong connection to previous games, Assassin's Creed Valhalla stands on its own. Valhalla takes a bit to get going, but once it does, it's a strong Assassin's Creed title that takes a few narrative chances that pay off in the end."
