EA defines it as a single-player, third-person action-adventure game that is currently in early development.
Electronic Arts have announced that an Iron Man video game is in the works. The publisher stated in a blog post that its Montreal-based EA Motive Studio is developing a single-player, third-person action-adventure game based on the titular Marvel superhero. The Iron Man title, which is currently in early development, will contain an original narrative that "taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling" the egos of the armored hero and the charismatic genius Tony Stark. There is currently no information on which platforms will be supported when the game is published.
"It's an honor and a joy to be able to create a video game based on one of the most recognizable super characters in entertainment today," stated Executive Producer Olivier Proulx. "We have a fantastic opportunity to tell a new and distinct story that we can call our own." Marvel is urging us to try new things. We have a lot of freedom, which keeps the crew engaged." Proulx, who previously worked on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, is in charge of the development of the upcoming Iron Man game.
The announcement is consistent with a prior leak that said EA was working on the aforementioned video game. While there is no definite narrative information, the description suggests that the game will serve as a window into Stark's depth and "charisma." Having said that, given Proulx's previous experience with linear storytelling, such moments are likely to be staged. Who knows at this stage. We're hoping to be able to play as Stark while he's imprisoned in his laboratory, similar to how WB Games Montréal utilizes ensemble characters in the next Gotham Knights game.
The news is out! 🎉We couldn’t be more thrilled to collaborate with @MarvelGames on an all-new single-player, action-adventure Iron Man game. While we're still in early development, this is an exciting new adventure for our studio: https://t.co/zpuT61TKtV pic.twitter.com/309lhm02dY

Motive Studio is now hard at work on a Dead Space remake, which is set to be released in January 2023. At the end of the blog article, Marvel and EA mention other collaboration initiatives. "Iron Man is the first of numerous new games in an exciting new cooperation between Marvel and Electronic Arts," it says. This could be a reference to the open-world Black Panther game, which was leaked in July.
Internally, the Black Panther game is known as Project Rainer, and it is being developed by ex-Monolith Productions VP Kevin Stephens. According to games critic Jeff Grubb, the premise is set after Black Panther's death at the start. Players will then be given a series of tests — or trials — to complete in order to become the new incarnation and King of Wakanda.
Because EA's Iron Man game is still in the early phases of production, there are no details on a release date or platforms. However, we may predict that the game will be launched on all main platforms, including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Windows PC.
