The latest video looks to combine realistic graphics with cartoon characteristics.
EA's new Need for Speed game has apparently been delayed by a month, as what appears to be the game's first footage has leaked online.
EA has delayed the forthcoming Need for Speed game from November to December, according to Jeff Grubb of GameSpot sister site Giant Bomb (via VGC). If this is accurate, it would equate to an internal delay for the upcoming title from Burnout studio Criterion, which has never been officially disclosed.
"They pushed it back to December, one month," Grubb explained. "They'll wait a couple more weeks before showing it out. Criterion appears to have gotten sidetracked a little bit while working on Battlefield [2042], which generated a ripple effect that caused this delay."
The new gameplay video appears to show a work-in-progress version of the game, with a car attempting to vault through a circular obstacle before collapsing into it. The video also includes some arcade-style animated features, which corresponds to speculations that the game will feature photorealistic graphics blended with anime themes.
EA has yet to formally announce the upcoming Need for Speed, however it has been reported that the game takes place in Lake Shore City, a fictitious Chicago. The game is said to be exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
The last game in the franchise was a remaster of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit in 2020 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
