Sony also revealed that Savage Game Studious is already hard at work on an unannounced live-action game for PlayStation Studios Mobile Division.
Sony has announced the launch of PlayStation Studios Mobile Division, a new push in mobile gaming. This new division will be separate from the company's console game development and will "focus on innovative, on-the-go experiences based on new and existing PlayStation IP."
The acquisition of Savage Game Studios was announced alongside the launch of PlayStation Studios Mobile Division. Savage Game Studios was founded in 2020 by developers Michael McManus, Michail Katkoff, and Nadjim Adair. The three developers have collaborated with a variety of developers over the years, including Insomniac Games, Zynga, and Rovio. However, Savage Game Studio has yet to produce a game.
Sony has now revealed that the gaming studio is already hard at work on an unannounced live-action game. "They're already hard at work on an unnamed AAA mobile live service action game. It's too soon to say anything else, but I'm looking forward to the day when they can "Sony stated in a blog post. Beyond that, the company provided no additional information.
It's worth noting that this is part of Sony's efforts to boost mobile gaming. Earlier this year, the company intends to have half of its games available on PC or mobile by 2025.
"PlayStation Studios has historically delivered a strong portfolio of narrative rich, graphically beautiful single-player games," Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan said during a presentation at Investor's Day, as reported by Video Games Chronicle.
"By expanding to PC and mobile, as well as live services," he added, "we have the opportunity to move from being present in a very narrow segment of the gaming software market to being present pretty much everywhere."
During the Investors' Day presentation, the SIE President shared a slide that hinted at the company's intention to phase out its PlayStation 4 gaming console. Surprisingly, Sony just released the DualSense controllers. These gaming controllers only support the company's PS5 gaming console, crediting the theory that the PS4 is on its way out.
