Outer Wilds launches on next-gen consoles on September 15.
Outer Wilds is coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. During the Annapurna Interactive Showcase on Thursday, developer Mobius Digital confirmed that the next-gen versions of the game would run at a consistent 60 frames per second. Those who own the game on the PS4 or Xbox One will receive a free upgrade when they upgrade to the new consoles. The update, which includes the 'Echoes of the Eye' DLC, is set to be released on September 15. Outer Wilds is also getting a Nintendo Switch port.
PS5 owners who have never owned the game before will have to purchase the next-generation version when it is released. You could also go to the PlayStation Store and buy the less expensive PS4 version and wait until Outer Wilds comes out in September. The publisher is currently running a Summer Sale, which allows you to purchase the game for Rs. 834. (a 34 percent discount).
Xbox One owners, on the other hand, can use their Game Pass subscription to add Outer Wilds to their library. When the next-generation version is released, the update should automatically download, allowing you to enjoy the full 60fps experience. Xbox Game Pass is now available for Rs. 50 as an introductory offer, after which players will be charged Rs.499 per month.
Outer Wilds for the Nintendo Switch was announced at last year's Annapurna showcase, but it has yet to be released. The studio showed up this time to confirm that the version is still in the works, but there is no set release date.
Outer Wilds, created by Mobius Digital, has an unusual premise. Players assume control of an unnamed space explorer and journey to the far reaches of the galaxy, only to become trapped in a time loop. Every 22 minutes, the sun's primary star goes supernova, resetting every planet and particle to its original state. In order to solve the mystery, players are encouraged to explore and uncover the secrets of an extinct tribe known as the Nomai. And, while the game sounds rogue-like, it is more of an adventure game.
