A new trailer for Relic Entertainment's upcoming World War II game, Company of Heroes 3, showcases all of the game's factions and game modes.
The first Company of Heroes game was released in 2006, and it blew strategic fans away. The game allegedly sold well for the publisher and went on to win multiple RTS Game of the Year awards. Seven years later, Relic Entertainment produced the Company of Heroes 2, which received a more divided reaction from gamers and critics. The third Company of Heroes game is due to be launched later this year, and publisher Sega is making certain that players understand what they're getting themselves into.
Company of Heroes 3 was first revealed in the summer of 2021, with the first trailer highlighting the game's new features. Sega would later announce the game's revamped campaign as well as what additional features would be offered to the player. Unlike previous games, Company of Heroes 3 will take place largely in North Africa and Italy during World War II. A new trailer has been produced that covers all of the game's features in a two-minute YouTube video.
This new Company of Heroes 3 trailer shows the game's different modes and factions, with a slogan encouraging players to play any way they wish. The US forces are described as proactive and adaptive, whereas the German Wehrmacht is described as defensive and threatening. The British are believed to be well-rounded and resilient, whereas the Germans are mechanized and mobile. The North Africa campaign, like the previous games, is supposed to be a traditional single-player experience, whilst the Italian campaign would be more akin to a Total War-style campaign. It also has new mission types, multiplayer, destruction, and gameplay elements.
The initial Company of Heroes game is widely regarded as one of the best World War II games ever created. At the time, the mechanics were novel and unlike anything else gamers had seen. Unfortunately, the 2010 decade was not the best for RTS games, and many companies' emphasis turned elsewhere. Publishers, on the other hand, appear to be willing to take another pass at the genre.
THQ Nordic revealed Tempest Rising earlier this year, as well as additional looks at several previously announced RTS games. Age of Empires IV was likewise released in 2021 after the franchise had been inactive for 14 years. Now, the Company of Heroes series appears to be ready to resurface and thrill gamers once more with its World War II scenario and gameplay. It remains to be seen whether the reception will be better or worse than in past installments.
