Avengers: Endgame, the most recent installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is the most anticipated film release this summer in India and throughout the world. The film was launched in India today, and Google is helping to keep the hype going. The search engine includes a fascinating Thanos-related Easter egg that reflects the events of Avengers: Infinity War and sets the setting for the upcoming film. The goodie is the latest in a series offered by Google around important occasions.
To find the Easter egg, go to Google.com and search for 'Thanos.' On the right side of the search results (Knowledge panel), you'll notice an illustrated gauntlet - the glove-like artifact Thanos employs in Avengers: Infinity War to contain and harness the power of the Infinity Stones. Clicking on the gauntlet activates the Easter egg; you'll first witness the gauntlet's fingers snap, followed by certain search results disappearing from the list as if they were vaporized.
Surprisingly, the amount of search results displayed directly below the search box has been cut in half. This is related to the events at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, which set the setting for Avengers: Endgame. Clicking the gauntlet again triggers a fresh animation of the Time Stone reversing the passage of time and restoring the search results.
Google has a few additional tricks up its sleeve besides the Thanos easter egg. Do a Google search for "Do a barrel roll," "askew," "zerg rush," "recursion," and "anagram" to attempt some of these stunts.
Avengers: Endgame has been launched in India, where advance ticket sales have surpassed records. Josh Brolin plays Thanos, Chris Hemsworth plays Thor, Chris Evans plays Steve Rogers/Captain America, and Robert Downey Jr. plays Tony Stark/Iron Man.
