Apple has shortened the time window for retracting messages and limited the number of times they may be modified.
Apple has been working hard to optimize the forthcoming version of iOS since its debut at WWDC 2022, and these efforts can be seen in the revised developer betas of iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura, the next generation of operating systems for iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers, respectively. The Cupertino company just recently released its first public beta for regular consumers to test and report faults, and it appears that Apple is also listening to their comments. This is due to the fact that the fourth developer beta, which was released on July 27, includes an intriguing change to the rather contentious functionality that allows users to retract or modify messages on iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura.
Users of the most recent developer and public iOS 16 Betas could utilise the Messages app's edit or retract functionality, which allowed them to amend a message sent to another user within 15 minutes of it being sent to the receiver. According to 9to5Mac, the latest (fourth) Developer Beta tightens things up by allowing just five modifications of the same message inside the same 15-minute timeframe of it being delivered.
Apple has not stated clearly why it has shortened the time limit for retracting and editing texts. Again, because all three operating systems are still in Beta, these restrictions may be modified further before the final stable releases arrive.
The most recent public beta, published on July 12, offered the first stable releases of iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, tvOS 16, and WatchOS 9 for the general public to install and test. They are presently accessible for compatible Apple devices to download.
Users who are aware of the dangers associated with using such software and want to check out the most recent beta version can sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program on the company's website. Feedback from the same sources may enhance the software experience until its final release later this year.
